It is with great regret that we have had to make the incredibly difficult decision to stop our milk rounds and selling our milk.
Nutfield Dairy is still in its infancy and these early years were always going to be difficult, particularly for us being first generation farmers. However, the past few months have been and continue to be a very hard battle. All our input costs have risen considerably but our biggest issue by far is the cost of energy. Although we have done everything possible to reduce our energy consumption, our cost of production is still crippling and like many small businesses it is nowhere near sustainable, even with our recent price increases.
We appreciate that this news may bring much disappointment as it does to us. We would like to truly express how grateful we are for the support you have given us, many of you having been customers right from our early days. We would also like to apologize to those of you who have only recently become customers.
Although this has not been a quick decision, we have been trying to find a way to continue.
Our last deliveries will be made on Friday 2nd December.
Looking to the future we are determined to keep farming and keep Nutfield Dairy going but in a different direction. We plan to increase our yoghurt production, make butter and a cheese which we will sell to shops we currently supply as well as others.
Although these are uncertain times, we feel positive that we can still make a success of Nutfield Dairy and produce quality products from an environmentally sustainable farm. We would still like to have open days and possibly even our own little outlet to sell our produce from.
Once again, we thank you for your support.
Your Sincerely,
Matt and Betsie
